Maria has studied Education (BA) and Education and Human Rights (MA) at the University of Athens and University of London. The last years she has been a registered research student at the University of Athens and she has been awarded a scholarship from the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation to complete her PhD in Sociology of Education.
Maria has worked in formal and informal education, in research and in counseling. Since 2005 she has worked with human rights organizations and institutions as a team leader, trainer for volunteers, specialist for innovative education programs for children. Maria has taken part in many conferences and youth forums, and in many projects about human rights in different countries around the world such as Japan, Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, Bulgaria, Portugal and Hungary. She has also worked as an educator in Greece, Oman and the UK.
