Maria Vlachou CEO and co-founder, Fereikos

Maria was born in 1980 in Athens, but grew up in Corinth. She studied Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Naples, Italy. She continued her studies in Portuguese Teaching at the University of Porto and Minho Braga in Portugal and she is a PhD candidate at the University of Lisbon. She graduated with merit and speaks 9 languages (Greek, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish and Dutch).

She has worked as a foreign language lecturer for several European Universities and she established the cathedra of Greek language and culture at the University of Economics in Izmir, Turkey. She worked in Brussels as a translator for the European Economic and Social Committee and as responsible for conference incoming tourism. She is an international trainer about commercial excellence for Bayer Crop Science.

Since 2008 Maria is responsible for sales and exports of Fereikos Helix company. In 2011 she made a new start up with Fereikos LtD of canned agricultural products. In 2009 Fereikos Helix received the Golden Snail award as the best company in the world from the International Institute of Snail Farming and in 2011 the International Prize of Snail farming.

In 2011 Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and The Greek Business Club awarded her as “Young Entrepreneur of the Year”. In 2013 she was included in the 40 under 40 Young Leaders of Europe, in the Greek list of Fortune 40 under 40 and Fereikos was honored with the European Business Award. In 2014 Maria became a high impact entrepreneur at the global network of Endeavor.
